The UPJ Biennial Organising Committee decided last month to postpone the face-to-face conference planned for October 2021; the Biennial has now been re-scheduled for Thursday 17 November to Sunday 20 November 2022 at the Novotel Brighton Beach in Sydney. We are thrilled to share the news that Rabbi Sharon Brous has confirmed she will travel to Australia with her family and be our featured presenter at that time.
Rabbi Brous is the senior and founding rabbi of IKAR, a Jewish community in Los Angeles that launched in 2004 to reinvigorate Jewish practice and inspire people of faith to reclaim a moral and prophetic voice. Brous’s 2016 TED talk, “Reclaiming Reliigon,” has been viewed by more than 14 million people and translated into 23 languages. In 2013, she blessed President Obama and Vice-President Biden at the Inaugural National Prayer Service, and returned in 2021 to bless President Biden and VIce-President Harris, and to lead the White House Passover Seder that Spring. Shir Chadash, the UPJ music conference, was planned to interweave with the Biennial this year for the first time, and will remain linked to the Biennial.
Please mark your personal and congregational diaries with this new date: 17-20 November 2022, and plan to join us!
