UPJ congregations throughout Australia, New Zealand and Singapore are preparing to use for the first time our long-awaited new machzorim, Mishkan T'shuvah, for the High Holy Days. We are truly grateful for the years of work by the Editorial Team co-led by Rabbi Jonathan Keren-Black and Rabbi Dr John Simon Levi AM and our hard-working Business Group. The machzorim have been delivered to UPJ congregations, ready to inspire our prayers on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
Just weeks after the Pittsburgh synagogue massacre, Temple David members were interviewed by WAtoday online magazine about their observance of Chanukah, which has taken on an even stronger meaning of "standing up in the light" against anti-Semitism. The Hobart Hebrew Congregation welcomed two visiting Rabbis for Simchat Torah services: Kinneret Shiryon (Rabbi Emerita of Kehillat Yozma, Modi’in, Israel) and JoEllen Duckor (Mashpiah of Temple Sinai, Wellington).
