You have probably heard of two decisions by the government of Israel: first, to hand conversions over entirely to the Chief Rabbinate (which will threaten our converts, especially in relation to making aliyah under the Law of Return) and second, to renege on the commitment made previously to allow all Jews to pray at the Kotel.
Thanks to the high-level of support received worldwide, we are pleased to report that PM Netanyahu ordered to halt the process of the conversion bill and established a team to examine a compromise between the sides.
This is a step in the right direction regarding the conversion bill, but Rabbi Gilad Kariv, President and CEO of the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism, has insisted that the Government also act immediately regarding the Kotel resolution.
